Dr. Sam Herbert
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sam Herbert to our practice. Dr. Herbert grew up in Davis, California where he played baseball for Davis Senior High. His love of baseball took him to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He played outfield for the Mustangs for 4 years. In 2004 he was able to pursue his dream of playing professional baseball after being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played center field for two years within the Cardinals organization. As a result of a shoulder injury he returned to Cal Poly and completed his BS degree in kinesiology, Cum Laude, with a minor in philosophy. In 2007 he was accepted to the Indiana University School of Optometry. He earned his Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 2011, with Honors. His internship rotations included training in primary eye care, specialty contact lenses, ocular disease and refractive surgery co-management. Dr. Herbert is certified (TMOD) to diagnose and treat eye disease, including glaucoma. Because of his sports background he specializes in sports vision and contact lenses. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. He and his wife Lilli live in Napa with their three young sons. Dr. Herbert’s hobbies include playing with his boys, exercising and watching movies in his free time.
Dr. Gregg Beach
Dr. Beach received his Doctor of Optometry Degree (with Distinction) in 1977 from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He served as an officer in the Air Force at the David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB. He started his private practice in Napa in 1980. Dr. Beach has advanced certification in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease (TMOD). He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Redwood Empire Optometric Society. He served for many years as an expert examiner for the State Board of Optometry. Dr. Beach and his wife, Robin, have four children. They are active in church and community.
Dr. Kristen Glasgow
Dr. Glasgow, originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from Rollins College in 2007. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from Nova Southeastern University in 2011. While in school she completed rotations focused on the treatment and management of ocular disease, surgical co-management and the fitting of specialty contact lenses (toric, bifocal, and scleral). She was also able to become proficient in medical Spanish.
After graduation, Dr. Glasgow began practicing in the Washington DC area. She enjoyed being in a private practice setting that allowed her to develop skills including dry eye management and complex contact lens fittings. After more than 7 years of practice, she decided it was time to make the move to Napa Valley where she had been coming to visit family for years. Dr Glasgow is thrilled to make a home at the Napa Valley Optometric Group and is looking forward to taking care of her neighbors. When not seeing patients Dr Glasgow enjoys wine tasting, hiking and exploring the Valley.
Dr. Loukia Hadjiyianni
Dr. Hadjiyianni originally grew up in central California before moving to Napa during middle school. She received her B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from UC Berkeley. Throughout her education, she was involved in numerous research studies including protein analysis, glaucoma treatment, and myopia control. During optometry school, she was a student leader in the California Optometric Association, actively tutored a variety of subjects, and participated in school committees. She completed rotations with a focus in low vision, ocular disease, and contact lenses; she is also certified (TMOD) to diagnose and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. When not seeing patients, Dr. Hadjiyianni enjoys spending time with her family, tending to her garden, or working on the family farm. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, and exploring with her husband.
